Service engine soon light came up!

I was driving my m6 2000 camaro ss the other day and i noticed the service engine soon light came on. I took it to Auto zone to get it scaned and the code for the clutch circuit came up. I have a few questions- is it a serious thing that i need to get fixed right away? What does the clutch circuit do? What problems may cause it to come on? and do you guys know about how much would it cost me to get it fixed? Any help will really be appreciated thanks.

Do you remember the code number that came up? I have a manual that might suggest the fix/cause.

Service Manual says a lot of things to check in respect to your clutch which requires a scan tool? DTC P0704 is Clutch Switch Circuit. They make mention of the clutch pedal position switch being a prime suspect. Have you done any work in that area? The wiring to the same switch for damage (at the pedal assembly). Also says to check for poor connections at the PCM. Some of the cures: adjust Clutch Pedal Position Switch, Replace Switch, Repair Wiring, Replace PCM. Dealership has the scan tool which will tell them what it is. I would go to the switch (giggle and such), check connectors at switch and at PCM. After that I would be looking for someone with that GM scan tool they speak of. Good luck
