    service engine soon light

    it's a 2001 firebird (V-6)
the catalytic converter started making a rattling noise when the motor was cold, but quit after it warmed up. not too long after that the light came on. autozone scanner said "catalyst effeciency low-bank 1". i put a new cat on and the light has not gone out. it has been driven about 85 miles. anyone know something i can try? thanks in advance. ryan.

How many miles? Stock cats are covered under the federal emissions warranty - 8 yrs/80K.

You either have to clear the code with a scanner,,,not sure if the autozone code checkers can do that or not but worth a shot.

Or,,,,,,,if the problem is truely fixed and the code was not cleared,,,,it will eventually clear itself after so many key cycles,,,not sure how many but it's up there,,,,like 30-40?
