    seeking LS1 crate motor

I fucked up a couple months back, and hit second rather than 4th, while showing a WS6 his beater wouldnt hang with mine.(and it did not)

Ive got some noise emitting from the pass bank, cant tell if its lifters or WORSE. But its getting louder. not the easily recognizeable bearing knocks, rather sounds like someone lightly tapping a steel pipe with a light hammer.

Whats the best deal on a new complete motor?

Ive been told for years that a LS1 cannot be properly rebuilt? any truth to that?

Ouch, not good, you can rebuild a LSX motor, whoever told you that was dumber than a box of bricks....
I had a buddy that did the exact same thing, then got the infamous "tick" or tapping, we pulled the valve cover and found a bent pushrod,Replace it and was good to go. i would start there first, there weak and will bend under the High Rpm.

Sounds like a pushrod. Over revving during a drag will tend to do that. And don't worry about hitting the wrong gear. I did it with a 350 turbo in an older camaro a while back. No rev-limiter in that one.
Cheap fix. Why not do the springs and rockers while your in there. Much less than a rebuild.

Yea....not sure how it happened, but it did. As for racing WS6, why not? You afraid to lose to a Z?

I'm sure my rods have been stressed over the years, the limiter was raised to 6800 four years back.

Just curious but why would you need the whole new crate motor with intake wires etc? A new longblock can be had for $2700 about. In fact theres some ls6 longblocks new in the crate on shmeeeebay for $2900 right now.
