    replace starter

I have a 2000 Firebird Formula (5.7L). I need to replace the starter on my car. My friend told me its not too hard. Are there any documented steps on changing these on LS1's? Is there also any recommended brands/places to purchase a replacement?

    Thanks guys,

    Ben

    1st thing, unhook your battery.
other than that, its tight, but ay worse you might need to drop your Y pipe.

make sure to buy a new one even though they are a bit more pricey, cause i work at an auto part store and the remans come back at times, havent seen a new one come back in a loooooooooooooooong time.

Thankfully it is a lot lighter than 1st gen small blocks. Just use some anti seize on the bolts and dont overtighten.

The starters are pretty small and you will have no problem getting it out. Main battery cable on one post and 2 small wires together on another post on the solenoid, 2 bolts and its out. Thats all there is to it.

    Yep!

Starters are usually a cake walk. Simple.
