Unless the mirror has the temp sensor itself, this idea can't work. Even if it did, it would be interior temp.

Plus, I think the temp sensor needs to be run through the CPU, making this task even more difficult and possibly impossible.

They sell kits using GM style mirrors with instructions and everything you need. You just install an outside air temp sensor out in front of the radiatior, run the wires up to the mirror, and run power and ground to the mirror.

I realize you said couple hundred bucks was too much.....what are you after? If just temp and compass maybe a stand alone unit for cheaper?

So using one from another gm car is not goin to work right?
I was looking at the one on the link. But $200+ is a little to much for a mirror.
It seems it comes with everything.

A mirror from another GM car can work, but you really have to be familiar with it and you'll have to piece together a couple connectors and a temp sensor. A kit would be a better idea for you.
