    rear hatch weatherstrip

I replaced the weatherstrip in my car and I noticed that the right area of the hatch is lifted. Like if i had the rubber stop very high. The stop is not the problem as is not even touch the panel. What i found is that inside the spongy area of thw weatherstriping there is a piece of hard foam. is about 8-10 inches long. I compared the left side and it is not on the same place.

Does anyone know or can check on their car were is these pieces of hard foam need to be located at? the top of the hatch, sides, or bottom by the lock? Thanks.

I can only easily get to the drivers side of my car at the moment but I found a spongey area right here in between the 2 pieces of tape

Thank you so much for taking the time and posting a pic. That's the same on my driver's side. Can you confirm is the same on the passenger side when you get a chance? I know it will make sense but in my original one the hard foam part was located more towards the back of the trunk area.

I think my trunk maybe out of adjustment. Thanks again Cutlass.

Yes, I have just confirmed the hard foam is in the same location on the passenger and driver side and those are the only 2 spots where the foam is located

Thanks again Cutlass. This is kinda weird, my driver's side is in the same location as the pic. If I put my passenger side in the same area it lifts the right corner of the trunk. I'm not sure what the problem is. Oh well.
