lol, I thought you were gonna ask how to put a rear mounted trans in a fbody. I dont know what the rear and trans power handling are but I know it'd help to distinguish what transmission you're talking about.

Navy Blue Metallic- `98 Formula M6 HdTp
With a set of slicks a stock engined M6 can break the rearend.

Depends a bit on your gearing as well. If you get some lower gears (4.10ish) your transmission and rear end will hold up better.

The T56 is a strong tranny...the rear will go before it will. On street tires the rear will last awhile because the tires will break loose long before the rear gives out. It's when you throw on some stickies and continually launch it hard that it becomes a ticking time bomb.

jw, but why do lower gears (higher numerical value) help the rearend? i thought itd put more stress on it

The basic reason behind it is with lower gears like a 4.10 compared to something like 2.73 is the amount of torque used to move things. The 4.10s will move easier and require less torque, which means the rear and tranny don't have to have as much stress on them.
Think of a 10 speed bike, put it in first gear and your legs don't really hurt much, put it up towards the top and they will start aching quicker.

True the speeds get higher, but torque is what will break a tranny and rear end (reason why with street tires a stock car is relatively safe but with drag radials it is a crap shoot). With higher speeds they will wear faster, but they should not break as easily. All things given equal you are still pulling the same power and torque just giving it an easier outlet to release that energy.

The gear change is normally adding teeth. Makes the gearset stronger, not the diff. itself.

You can easily do a 125 shot and some tires without tranny or rearend issues.
A stock engine can take a 300 shot too.......
It all depends on how you drive or should I say launch it. If you put slicks on a stock car and go and dump the clutch it will still spin the tires. It takes alot more than a pair of slicks to make a car dead hook and snap axles.
You can put a 125 on it and a pair of drag radials and go out there to the track and dump the clutch at 25-2700 and then grab the kit without breakage. Now I'm sure there is people on here that will state different. But then again there is people that blow there motors up on 75 shot before they use there first bottle also.
Have you done any sus. mods?Don't be afraid of the bottle!!! Be afraid of your tune!!!
