Any good qaulity 80W-90 with the proper friction modifier additive will do just fine. I think I have Valvoline in our 12 bolt Moser.

Thanks for the help..
The one I bought is limited slip or something.
I used the Lucas oil on my last M6 I had. And after that it started making some noise with that oil.
So I'll try this and see what's up

Yes you need the additive if you have a limited slip rear end, which you do. also 80/90 will work just fine.

So what exactly the additive does?
I was told the additive is needed only when the rear end have posi clutches.
So that's not true?

If the OPs car is the one in his sig he does not need any additives, GM stopped using clutch type diffs in the Camaro in 99. He has a torson type locker that has helical gears in it not clutches.

The way I read it the horse was saying very few diffs had this problem of the "rusty screw" sound but we would recommend you give us your donation for something you really don't need because we are becoming crappy salesman and we gotta make money off ya somehow.

GM reccommends 75W-90 Synthetic gear oil for these cars.
So that is what I use. I use Mobil 1 75W-90 because its the most readily available at the parts store, and its been very good.

O.K. here's the low down;
If the rearend fluid is GL6 it has the additive in it, if it is GL5 or below it does not.
If your vehicle has a LSD (yours does) you need the additive.
I would stay away from synthetic oil, and run 85W-140 dino oil, and change it out every 50k. The thicker oil will help keep things quiet, and disapate the heat better than the thinner oil.
