    rear end

    ok i have an 01 ls1 ta with 80000 miles and all of a sudden out of nowhere the rear end started knocking whil driving. and im trying to figure out what the heck happend. all ive checked so far it the driveshaft i was hoping it would be something simple and cheap like a u bolt or something. but everything on the outside is fine. does anybody know what the problem could be. thanks in advance for the help

    And the last time you checked your RE fluid level was?

    When was the last time you changed the fluid???

    i changed it at about 75000 miles before i went on a road trip

    if u just changed it check it again, u might have not put enough in. i had that problem, my fluid was low and the clunkin went away with more fluid added

    did you add the posi additive when you changed out your fluid?? It's in a little bottle and smells like ass....if you didn't then it could be the clutch in the posi unit..try adding some. You can usually buy some at the dealer...good luck


    make sure you have the posi rear first...I think it's like GU2 on the rpo sticker on the driver door
