Rattling/ Popcorn/ Croaking Noise
Hey everyone,
I had no luck getting an answer at other forums so I'm hoping someone here can help me figure out what this noise is. It's loudest when in gear and to me, sounds like a cross between a frog croaking, a creaking noise, and popcorn popping. I've linked a couple YouTube videos below. My recent maintenance include a new water pump, accessory pulley and steering rack. Is it a broken flexplate?
Thanks in advance!

Sounds like body/bushing flex or the brake pads gripping the rotors while you're brake-torquing the car. I could be wrong, but that's normal.

Certainly an interesting noise. There are plastic inspection covers on each side of the transmission bell housing, and also a stamped metal plug in the bottom. Wouldn't hurt to remove them and get some light in there to take a look at everything. Engine and transmission mounts all in good shape?
And... welcome to the site!

It's definitely not brake related. The mounts seem to be ok. I haven't had a chance to look into the transmission just yet. I just hope it's still safe to drive until I can get it on a lift.
