Quick question, pilot bearing
Im looking at a car to buy, but the guy replaced the clutch that now has 7k on it but he didnt replace/ grease the pilot bearing. So clutch makes a lil noise due to that.
Is this bad? I am not familiar with this so I am asking you guys!
how much would it cost (ESTIMATE) to fix this problem?
Thnx guys!

Ill find out thursday once I look at it.
I believe this guy knows what he's talking about , he is a mechanic at planet ford, I told him after the test drive if I like it, he will replace pilot bearing himself and ill make up the diff.
We'll see how deal goes down. I just wanted to see what yall think.

A bad throw out bearing could make a noise like that.
Boost gets you laid, unless your name is Jon.

Yes,, I would think that as well before I'd think pilot bearing, unless the pilot was damaged during install.
IIRC, most/many clutch kits come with a pilot bearing don't know why they would'nt replace it while in there.
Least that's my take on it anyways.
Good way to tell if the pilot is shot is check for trany leakage around the input shaft. If it's leaking stay away imho.
An egged out pilot bushing or damaged needle bearing type can put stress on the input shaft.
That kind of side deflection can stress everything it's associated with inside the trany. Not good.Last edited by Smittro; 04-02-2012 at 08:44 PM.
