Question Quick Plug Wire Question - Not about brands

I just have a real quick question.

Just got the MSD wires, put em on, etc. Figured out how to get them in too, kind of a brain teaser on the last two passenger side ones. I just wondered, do I need to reuse the factory metal covers? They only seem to fit the stockers, and I didn't put them in. Should I be ok? Thanks a lot.

You should be ok. They are heat shields. The MSD wires are better at dealing with the heat. If they fit, I would say use them, but since they don't, don't worry about it.

yepp you should be fine, When i instailed my lt's i bought some "heat proof" or fire proof, sleeves. They cost me about 40 bucks but well worth it.

I put the metal sleeves on my msd's, I did not have a problem with the fit. just a little different shape to go over. I wanted the extra protection.

I purchased some 8.5MM wires, and used the stock metal heat shields along with the heat resistant boots, I do not have headers, so it was a bit of overkill.

If you do not have headers, you should be fine.

I put mine back on as well. I did have to put a little slit in them to get the wires in but I put the slit facing down so you can't see it. I also polished them up with some steel wool so the have a little bling to them.

They will be fine either way. It would aid in plug wire life if you installed headers. They expell more heat than the manifolds which tends to fry boots.
