    Question on Spec clutches

    hello,
What do ya'll think of Spec's clutches. I have heard a few mixed reviews. I had a Stage III with the aluminum flywheel and loved it until it blew up 45,000 miles later. All I have is bolt ons with a 4.11. After it happened I didnt want to spend a lot of money so I just put a Stage IIK disk in its place which is slipping after 35,000 miles (I think this is due to a pressure plate problem though.) Well its time for a new clutch but I am hesitant to put a Spec back in. I loved the Stage III but do not want another KA-BOOM!
Any testimonies from ya'll would be great.
    Thanks

Define "blew up" please. 45,000 miles is very good for any clutch in a performance application. I have a SPEC III that has proved to be pretty solid considering that I make a decent amount of power...

The center hub chunked and all the spings went flying around. The hub did not actually seperate from the disk but it had a few pieces break off the hub.

Do the spec clutches come complete with pressure plates and throw-out bearings? Sorry, A4 owner here. I would think that racing clutches would eliminate the damper springs to reduce moving parts and weak spots, thus, promoting quicker and more positive engagement.

    clutch

yeah mine came with pressure plate and throwout bearing- I also bought a new slave and master cylinder- And put in a Fidanza flywheel.... Don't let the fact that the SPEC is complete or lower priced fool you- I wasnt ever really happy with it.
