pulleys...
Ok, so I don't know all that much about this so that's why I am asking for help. I recently had my exhaust done, and while my car was at the shop I had them check out what was causing a noise that I hear at idle that sounded like a mechanical rattle. We found the problem to be a dried out bearing in my AC pulley. He also said that there was another pulley on there that sounded like it was producing a little bit of noise, but that my AC pulley was the loudest by far. He said I should be able to just buy a new pulley, and put it on there.. so I looked into doing that. I went to an AC store called MaxAir, and they said it would be like 190 bucks to get just that part and that it isn't as easy as I think it is...blah blah blah... Is it possible for me to just take off the AC belt cause as far as I am concerned I would rather not pay 190 bucks for something that gets rid of a sound. The AC still works perfectly, though I don't use it very much at all. Have any of you guys had this happen? The rattle is annoying and makes the car sound like it isn't running all that well, when it is. Thanks for any help.

I beleive it is very possible. Try and get one from any junk yards and what not before spending big money. Maybe some one here will tell you for sure. I dont own a Camaro/ fbody.

Yea theres another post wit the same issue. You can take off your small belt bc it only runs the ac but remember if you take off the belt you wont have ac.

if the other pulley is the crank pulley, I still have my stock one if you need it. but for 190, I think you can get the asp underdrive pulley for cheaper for the a/c

My life is a- Ben Stiller movie.
underdrive only affects the alternator and harmonic balancer, not the a/c.
I have to replace my a/c pulley too.

Is there any way I could just take the pulley off and oil that bearing?

ok, that seems to be what most say....so maybe I'm just stuck with taking the belt off for the time being If I am annoyed that much with it...at least until I feel like replacing it, but we'll see.
