Ported throttle body!
i know this has been talked about but never quite got an answer from my findings...
I cant even figure out whats going on lol....
ok heres my problem.
I installed a ported throttle body from "Portz Speed and Performance" looks great but my problem is that it idles at like 1500rpm in neutral coasting and only drops after a couple seconds after i stop... in park i can rev the car perfectly and it drops asap and idles perfect... but it will actually increase my speed while in drive from the idle?
any ideas? iv rechecked my IAC O-ring and its in good shape iv sprayed carb spay around it and there are no leaks....
Heres a couple pictures!

check the idle screw. Do yourself a favor and flip it. The head is on the underside and it will require you to take the TB off for adjustments if you don't flip it to the other side.

wow you or they took a little to much. Mine is ported and I don't have light like yours.
Do you still have your stock TB? If so swap the blade form it to this one. See if that helps. They may have grind the blade too.

Yep. That's an air leak right there. Keep us posted. Seeing threads like this make me opt for an 80mm throttlebody.

ok well i didnt swap the blade yet but when i was resetting my pcm i for some reason pulled back on the throttle cam and the stupid thing closed more so i adjusted the cable and it closes all the way and the idle has dropped.... but now with it adjusted i can no longer open to full throttle unless i do it manually how may i fix this?

Looks like someone got carried away on the port job. I would swap it out for one that the blade fits better in at the throat.

Maybe someone can help me with this if i explain it more i got the throttle body to work for now till i get the new one in by lowering my idle screw and adjusting my TCS box to TB cable but now i cant seem to go WOT now it comes about 1/4" away from the bump stop mod iv tried adjusting the pedal to TCS and that didnt help neither... after investigating for awhile i think i may have found the problem. it looks/sounds like the TCS is stopping the too soon i need it to turn about 1/4" more but there seems to be a stop in there? any ideas cause i will have this problem with the new TB also probably....

Black- 00 camaro ss M6 #6695
On my 98 Z had the same problem, I had to swap the stock one back.
On my 00 ss bought another potted tb but the second one cane with a rubber ring for one of the sensors on the side of the tb.
Never had any issues with that "gasket" and the first one I bought did not came with it.
You could try that

Oh. So you DID do the throttlebody stop mod. I don't know what else to do if you already did the mod. So you still have slack in the cable then?

Ya I didn't do it bought it that way... but I found that there is a stop on the bottom of the tcs so I cut half of it off so that would allow the cam to turn more so now I can get wot

looking at the pictue it looks like your idle bleed hole has been drilled too. i bought a ported tb off ebay and found that the bleed had been drilled larger. put my old blade on and it still has the same thing you are seeing. mines a stick so not that big of a deal but i can see how on an auto it would be annoying.

That little bit of light you see is not a big deal. You are going to have to make sure the blade is fully closed at idle with the screw and you also have to do the TPS relearn procedure.
Also you should be able to adjust the throttle cable itself to make sure its going fully open at WOT. There should be a little clip on the throttle body line about 1.5 ft back from the TB that you use to adjust for slack.

Well throttle body is in the mail back to the seller he is going to send me a new one...
I fully adjusted everything that I could the picture was taken with the throttle screw completly removed car still wanted to idle high..
Inorder to get WOT I had to grind down the stop of the traction control box to allow the throttle to be pulled more...
Also reset the computer to relearn idle and reset the tpsLast edited by My00Z28; 10-05-2011 at 09:27 AM.
