If you don't want to upgrade the intake ( yet ) , they make adapter spacers to fit 80mm TB's. It will increase the air velocity. I ran one years ago with a 80mm BBK TB, and it worked great. ( long time ago ) LOL !!!

You might be able to port the intake to 80 mm, but I'm not sure... My last intake was a LS2, which is a 90mm stock, but you need to upgrade the fuel rails and use the larger o-rings on the injectors... Here's my latest intake mod I did over the winter !!! I'm still tuning it for this coming race season !!!

I like ported TBs...even the small ones. Shaner makes some nice ones.

i guess my biggest question is does it make that much of a power gain over a stock throttle body?

you are not going to feel it or see much just from it. its more of a support mod. any thing to help air flow is going to help. when you put it with a set of headers and maybe a cam then its going to help that much more. i have one from shaner and love it. i have the s3. if you call to talk to him make sure you have a good amount of time he is a talker. the spacer is pointless on are cars. just my $0.02
