Plugs and Wires
Alright everyone... What is the best plug and wire set to buy for my 33,000 mile 02 SS? Very little mods done to the car. Just lid and filter, Throttle body water bypass, high flow bellow, Y-pipe and magnaflow catback. Getting ready to change this weekend. Thanks in advance.

Alot of people are running NGK TR55's. Just put mine in a couple of weeks ago and havent had any problems. As for the wires everyone I talked to said the best thing to do is what until you have a problem with the stock ones before you change them because they are a good wire.

NGK TR55's (copper not iridium or plantinum) i saw em on motorsporttech.com for like $20 (set of 8). i dont know if that's the lowest price but it's not bad.

I have Taylor Thundervolt 50 wires with factory plugs. The factory plugs are iridium. I believe the heat range is lower. GM's possible purpose was to keep the air/fuel mixture in the cylinders cooler for more power. I've heard mixed things with copper versus iridium. I'd have used silver if I have the cash at the time.

copper (ive heard) you have to change more often but is more desireable because it's the best conductor.

I just went with the NGK 55's and MSD 8.5 mm wires. Put them on when I put my headers on last weekend.

Jegs sales Granatelli Motorsports new LS1 plug wires for like $165 or something. I think it was my Super Chevy mag. that they were tested in on a 5.3 truck. Just the plug wires supposedly made a 15hp improvement.

I've had Bosch platinum +2 plugs and Accel 300+ race wires in for the last 60,000 miles. The only issue with the wires is that I can't pick up any AM stations when the car is running. Other than that, both plugs and wires have been exceptional.
I got both from Advance Auto Parts...I think the wires had to be special ordered, but it only took a few days, and at that time, they cost about $89 for a set
I've got 113,000 miles on the car now and it still runs like new!
