    Pinging

At my last fill-up I added a bottle of Wynn's Fuel System Cleaner (injector cleaner) to the tank and now, after about half the tank has gone, I've started to notice some mild pinging (pinking/detonation) when accelerating. Strangely, this seems to be happening unde mild accleration, but I don't notice it if I floor-it.

I'm sure this must be linked to me having added-in the Wynn's because it was definitely not happening before. Basically, I'd be grateful for any advice on what to do next. Do you think the Wynn's has caused this problem and what do I need to do to get rid of the pinging?

Could it possibly be just the stuff it's cleaning out that's causing the pinging?

Under light acceleration you are not using the power enrichment tables but running off of the ve table. The cleaner is no doubt affecting the octane of the gas. Refill the tank with 93 or whatever is the best octane you can get in your area and you should be fine.

i just refilled it this morning with our regular unleaded which is 95 octane (RON), which I think equates to your 90-91 octane. On the short drive from the filling station to my workplace it was still pinging.....but that was only about a 5-10min drive.

I could have put our 97 (your 92-93) in it, but wanted to see whether a fresh tank of the same petrol would cure the issue.

That's what I was thinking. Carbon deposits? Would I need to run something through the engine to de-carbonise it?

No it should just clean itself out... If you go through this tank of gas and its still going on I'd have it looked at... But I don't see it turning out to be a big deal. No worries man.

like stated above its probably just the cleaner effecting the octane of the gas...it should go away after a tank or two of fresh gas (try going till almost empty to full a couple of cycles with your highest octane gas)

if it doesn't stop after that then come back and we someone else can help you out

Thanks for you advice guys. I find that people on the LS1 forums are so helpful...hopefully one day I'll reach the stage where I can give out some advice rather than just asking for it all the time
