I have a 9 inch with no ABS in my 1998 TA; this is the first 4th gen I’ve done this to.
Outside of the lights on the dash (soon to be gone) I have notice no deference in the braking ability of the car or drivability issue what so ever, this car is my daily driver. My 99 has an ABS capably rear in it feels to me like it brakes the same as the 98, but I’m not a professional driver on a closed course with any scientific instruments. neither car ever sees snow, but the 98 is driven in the rain and I’ve made some hard stops to see what would happen, the brakes will lock up, just like a 3rd gen or older.
Can you do it and have it work ……..yes
Will you need the ABS brakes in the rain or when someone cuts you off in traffic……..I don’t know
My winter car is a 1998 jeep grand Cherokee with ABS, I can lock the brakes up in the rain and snow (it has no mechanical problem other than it’s a jeep).
    2-cents… hope this helps some

IMO abs is a must have on the car. I wouldn't mess up with that.
I drove cars that don't have it.
It doesn't feel right... Not safe to me.

I think it can get tuned out, you might want to contact Frost (site sponsor) to ask about that.

It wont effect daily driving, short/slow braking, but it will have an effect on high speed hard stops. As long as you can remember to pump them when they lock up (which used to be the standard for hard breaking back in the day), everything should be fine.
