    PCV Valve Question

I was wondering if any tried using this PCV valve and had any luck reducing oil consumption.

I just had one of those PCV valves put in my car, as well as an oil catch can. I finally get it back tomorrow, i will let you know how it works.

It has a fixed orifice design instead of the ball socket style.

Quite honestly though, I have not seen any need for it on my LS1,,,,with the stock PCV I have no problems sucking oil through it or any oil consumption for that matter.

My 2000 SS was sucking oil through the stock PCV setup and into the intake. I put one of those newer truck style PCV valves in and it definitely pulls less oil. I added some extra hose with a glass inline fuel filter so I could watch it to see if it accumulates. There is some oil showing up in the filter, but I don't think it's much at all and isn't getting to the engine now. Give that PCV valve a try and keep an eye to see if anything continues to get by.

I've been using it since 03 when the bulletin came out and it has stopped using oil completely.

Here's the PCV valve I got from NAPA. It's listed for the 2003 trucks LS engines.

Your best beet is to just run a seperator. Jegs is the cheapest I know of at this point.
We have discussed this in GREAT detail before. There are MANY other benefits you get besides oil consumption.
Oil in the combustion mix equals detonation. I have tuned cars and been able to run more timing after inatall due to cleaner intake charge.

Are these seperator kits made specifically for the LS1 engine? Can the setup be made to look clean as if it belongs there?

Universal....I'm sure you can find some companys making a specific kit for the LS but I'm sure it will be a $100 or more. It isn't that big and YES Larry I hide them sometimes have even painted them black or wraped with a piece of cut hose.

Why not fix the problem? LS1'S have a known PCV design problem. I used a 04 vette valley cover.

It's expensive and more labor intensive,,,,thats why most won't go this route. I need a better reason before I go pulling all that crap off the top of the motor,,,,something in the lines of a HP improvement before I dig that far into the motor.

That is an interesting picture of the underside valley pan though. It appears the knock sensor holes are different from front to back on the LS6 valley cover. Does this also require special knock sensors? One hole seems more shallow than the other. I also believe there is more to this swap than just the valley cover. Other pieces required.

I was thinking there may have been a sticky about this,,,,with a part numbers list from GM and a price list? If not maybe there should be.
