PCV valve leaking oil
When i put my finger under the pcv valve it was covered in oil. I'm assuming the valve is bad or do i have other problems ? Could i just go to the auto parts store and buy one or is this a dealer part ? I have taken the valve off before because i replaced the hose from the TB to the valve.
Thanks

you can buy a pcv valve at autozone for about 3 bucks, but for the whole assembly(plastic and rubber hoses) i think its around a 100 bucks

Its normal to have some oil in the PCV system. The crankcase vapors it draws out contain oil, and it accumulates in the valve and hoses. This is one of the reasons the stock PCV system is so crappy, it pulls way too much oil from the crankcase instead of just vapors.
The solution is the LS6 style PCV system with the orfice tube/oil screen design. Much better system, cleaner look, and doesn't suck up oil like the stock system.

If you break the pcv rubber garment you will have to buy the whole piece. GMpartsdirect has then between $60-$80. Or you can make one for about $8 including the pcv.
There is a couple of threads here on how to do it. Give me a min and I'll post them.

here you go. I did this and it works. again this only cost me $6-8

another thing you need to know is if you follow the pcv line back behind the intake it merges into one line that takes it to the rear drivers side valve cover. At the merge point the rubber deteriorates and fails too causing another vacuum leak. Again you have to by the entire pcv part to fix it or you can get some vacuum line connectors and do what I did. I used one T and a L. Made my connections and it works with no issues.
This cost me about $10 because I bought a variety box. You will need to use 3/8 size.Last edited by SMWS6TA; 09-20-2010 at 07:49 AM.
