    Post PCV Valve and ECT

According to some of our members, they suggested I look into the PCV and ECT...... looking into my Chilton Vehicle Repair Manual, the two sensors looked as though reference was made to the LT1 and not the LS1

I took the following images of the engine designated the sensor. Am I correct?

    Thank you,
    Matthew

look at the bright side though. We have a temp gauge that actually works and a metal gas tank.

Yep... I find quite a few suttle differences with my early 98... Need to document them...

    Thumbs up First Year Production

Thanks for the 411 on the location. Man, I read at various other sites and postings that the PCV valve was hidden along the line somewhere in the rear of the engine. When I changed the plugs, passenger side rear plug took at least 2 hours from the fatigue of bending over.... that ordeal made me damn weary!

Seems like your valve was sitting middle because that is where they decided to make the joint huh? Either that, or who ever installed it at the factory didn't want to go tight up front and gave it a little side slacking.

The comes to show that manufactures do make modifications after the 1st year of production. By all means, the first year Camaro 2009s should not be purchase jumped on..... waiting for a fix is a good thing.

    Wink Similar Issues

Despite the differences, are vehicle have so much in common..... .like the side panel cracking and poor window motors! Man, I have to take those panels off to alleviate those cracks!!!

Thank heaven they repair the Rear latch from that of the 3rd generation... but it still has problem of unpopping.

    Wink In Styro Foam

As I have read, the valve is wrapped up in that black styrofoam and is connected betwen two tubes? They say you can cut the foam off and let it be.

A Fram valve at Kragen Auto is listed at $3.00. I'm going to get one today.

yeah, on my 98 it was halfway down the passenger valve cover underneath some foam padding. I thought they were all in that location but judging from that picture I guess all of them aren't in the same spot.

    Wink Should Not Very

It's a Fuji! taken when the sun was almost down using a flash. Hopefully the pics will help new Fbody owners that are getting around to replacing these parts.

Hey, I'm just guessing ..... but the position of the valve should be set for the hose length has been preset by whatever manuf. that cut the lines for the assembly plant...... thus, the location should be the same in all of our LS1s. They should not even vary at all..... even if it was an 98 manufacture.

I damaged my ECT installing my LT headers. For those with a '98, the ECT is not the same. We have a three prong connector instead of two, like the 99+. Could save you the trip back to the parts shop, b/c autozone just gave me the two prong saying it was for my year.

Yes, that #8 is PITA from the top. Next time, access it from underneath and it will take 5 minutes.

    Thanks Buddy!

Thank you for the 411 on the #8 plug. I never thought of accessing bottom up... thought it be much easier if you are straddling the engine from top. It's just the angle of the socket that is a toughy..... I was weary not to break the plug taking it out....

    Will keep it in mind...
