PCV Hose
Working on the car tonight, I noticed that the PCV hose is well on its way to taking a crap. I checked GM Parts Direct and did not find a listing. The hose has a molded end but I can not tell if just that part can be replaced or if a whole new hose is required. I do not want to risk removing it until I have a replacement in hand as it will probably disintegrate as soon as I pull on it. What's the scoop on replacing these?

I don't believe the parts are available from GM any more.
But there is a tech sticky on the subject.

Not what I was hoping for... but that looks like it'll work just fine. Thank you!

Sebring Silver Metalic- 2002 Camaro Z28
You can still get the part. I called my local Chevy dealer and I think it was like 8 bucks in change or 7 and change. They had to pull it from a warehouse though. I didn't write down the part number or cost. I just used the tech sticky. I needed a fix and couldn't wait on them to ship it. I have gone through more than one of those silly rubber PCV hoses, and figured why continue messing with that dumb thing.

I went to the dealership this morning and they crossed the part number I was given to a newer number. Looks like the entire hose assembly is the only way they sell it. I am hoping it has the updated PCV with the smaller orifice. We'll find out in a couple of days.

The Part Number for the new hose assembly is 12590632 and it... gasp, choke, stutter... retailed for $111.31 at the stealership. The only good news is that it replaces everything in one shot. I figured ours is 8 years old now and as it had definitely deteriorated, I may as well get one while I still can.

Well that is interesting. Using their on-line catalogue this part is not shown under the emissions components. The only item listed is the actual PCV valve. Typing in the part number "12590632" does not return anything and a keyword search of "PCV" only kicks back the valves. How are you finding this?

I found this at GMpartsdirect. The most important thing is the part number.....I couldn't find that part or part number at gmpartsdirect.

silver- 2000 formula
I was messing under the hood one day, had a new PCV to install. Went to pull the hose off the TB that goes to the PCV. Noticed that the hose had collapsed and had been that way for who knows how long, pulled on the hose and it just disintegrated. The hose looked like a special one that I would have to go to the dealer for, headed on over there and they say that the hose is discontinued, but I can get the whole assembly like you mentioned. That was a little pricey and without that hose I was drivin around with a massive vacuum leak. Some of the hose was stuck on the TB nipple, and I still did not know what kind of hose it was. Well a quick purchase of some 3/8 fuel line did the trick, no more vacuum leak and I was back on the road .........and I still have not figured out why the PCV needs a ground??? anyone???
ps...gm parts direct is cheap.....but they killed me on shipping and handlingLast edited by sjsingle1; 02-24-2010 at 04:31 PM.

The whole system doesn't make much sense. I agree that a piece of hose would work to fix it even with the different sized ends. Just have to stretch it a bit to get it on the throttle body. When this one starts to fail that is most likely what I will do.
