RevXtreme man, I purchased one a couple months back well worth the cheap price! Best one on the market not a doubt in my mind!

not that I'm aware of but I don't consider myself an expert on the subject I would recommend getting a hold of them. Its the biggest one on the market thus allowing for more area for the droplets to condense and settle...

Mine does have a metal filter like thing in it. Though I think of it as something that helps give the oil an extra surface to condense against.

do you still need to use the pcv valve when using a catch can? I thought the whle idea was to eliminate the valve itself but I just wanted to make sure...?

Yes you still want the PCV valve. The catch can just catches what gets by it.

Oil vapor which would otherwise go into your intake.

No they don't. It helps keep oil from going into your throttle body, intake, etc. After seeing some of the stuff that has come out of mine I highly suggest it to everyone.

Isn't a good way to check if you need a catch can is to look at your PCV? If the valve is covered in oily residue, it's a good sign a catch can would help you. Is that right?

No, there won't be any oil covering the outside of the pcv valve. Feel the back of your throttle body blade, if it's dry, your ok. If there's a film of oil on the back of the tb blade, you could use one.
