    PCM Relocation

Has anybody ever relocated the PCM to the inside of the car under the dash? I am looking to do this and wanted to see pictures, and any advice in doing it. It seems pretty straight forward, but would like some type of input.

I wish GM did this in the first place. Thats the way it used to be on the 3rd gens. Putting it out under the hood where it's more exposed to the elements was the dumbest idea.

Room wouldn't be an issue with me, as I plan to remove all the airbag junk under the dash anyway. But I wonder if the harness would be long enough to allow it.
When I did an LT1/4L60E swap in my wifes jeep, I had a custom harness made with an F-body computer from Howell. And they asked where I wanted it mounted,,,,under the dash of course, and they made the harness accordingly.

What is the gain in Relocating the coil packs or moving the wires and hood release latch. It is just a cosmetic thing. It will not net any gains, other then making the engine bay look tremendously better.

Sounds like a big waste of time, besides you may cause more problems then you can bargain for messing with it. If your that bothered by how it looks buy or make a cover for it in chrome or any colour you choose to paint it.

Yes but where the PCM is located, it's almost out of sight.......I have a nice black cover on mine so it virtually undetectable

FXGS- that cover looks good. It may be more trouble then it is worth, but I have seen cars with this deleted or moved, and they look so much better then when they are there. I will try and pull up a picture to show you what I mean.

Yup I've seen it done too and know what you mean. I've always thought about it. The first 4th gen I ever layed eye's on went right to that ugly computer with all those wires just hanging there exposed like they do. Thats not only ugly but looks like a potential for chafing and shorts.
Computers aren't meant for extreme cold and heat,,,and definately not moisture either.

the computer is fine within any of the temperatures it will be exposed to. If your worried about moisture add some dielectric grease on the rubber seals on the harness plugs every few years. Do not move the PCM it will not help anything.
