    P0430 code

I have both 0430 and 0420 codes with 0157 and 1153. I have a 99 TA (130k+) American Racing Headers with cats and SLP loudmouth catback. Would the O2 sensors be the cause of the 0430 and 0420 codes? How would the ECM know if the cats are working right (wouldn't it be through the O2 sensor readings?) If so, are they just reading info from the front sensors or measuring the difference between sensors 1 and 2? Can someone explain what could be possibly happening and what are the possible solutions, without having to go to a dealership?

    Thanks

It mostly uses the rear o2 sensors to determine if the cats are working. If the cats are cleaning up the exhaust good then the o2 sensor switches rich to lean slow and lazy as compared to the front o2 sensors. An electrical or mechanical o2 simulator can fix your problem.

I recently failed my emissons for this code and another. I called one of my local dealerships and they confirmed the 10 year warranty, so it was fixed for no charge.
Thanks a lot, you saved me a good amount of money.

glad it helped you out. The problem seems to be from the dealerships themselves not being aware so you have to go in there armed with the knowledge.

cutlass may be able to look that up but I would think that warranty situation is completely different than the v8 models. Nothing wrong with a v6...local guy is running low 13's with one N/A.
