P0171 and P0172???
My girlfriend has a 2002 V6 Camaro. Awhile back a check engine light came because of code P0171. Then it went away. Now the engine light came back on, and the dealer gave her 2 codes, P0171 and P0172. How can it be too rich and too lean?
I'm going to clean her mass air meter tomorrow, and maybe do the O2 sensors.
Anyone have this issue before?
Is it possible the first code (P0171) is just stored in the computer, and the 2nd code (P0172) is the current reason for the check engine light? Is that maybe why she got 2 codes from the dealer?

The reason you are getting two codes is because at one point or another the computer threw both codes and both codes are now stored in the PCM. I really wouldnt worry about the codes themselves. Cleaning the MAF is a great place to start before changing your O2 sensors. If that doesnt work I would then change out the O2's. That should fix any reason that you were throwing the code. Hope this helps but it sounds like you were on the right track anyways.
