P0101 - maf?
Hi all,
My car has been acting weird the past few weeks, bucking and hesitating. Yesterday the SES light finally came on with a P0101 code.
I recently installed a Firehawk hood on the car, introducing the 'ram air' effect to what was a bone stock, base TA. Could this have anything to do with it? Does the PCM need reset? I can't imagine that the ram air effect is substantial enough to affect what the MAF sees, but I guess you never know.
Or, should I just replace the MAF?
TIA

Try some maf cleaner. Pick it up at your local parts store. Might just be dirty.

I picked up some of that CRC stuff and cleaned it. It didn't look dirty, and the air cleaner looked decent, but I went through the exercise anyway. Took the car out briefly and it *seems* ok now. It did it mostly under a heavy load, like when I'm too lazy to drop a gear and accelerate.
Time will tell, I guess.
If I do replace the MAF eventually, is there any benefit to an SLP MAF, or any other bigger MAF?

As the saying goes on here -- Leave the MAF alone!
The aftermarket MAFs skew the air/fuel on our cars and this can only be corrected with tuning. The stock MAF is actually good to up around 500 h.p. Also, you should not de-blade or de-screen your MAF as that also alters the airflow and throws off your air/fuel. Greg Banish, a recognized GM tuner and author has addressed this in both of his EFI/Tuning books. You will see mucho debate about this on here, but the facts are the facts.
