If I had to guess I'd say sounds somewhat like a bad head gasket.

    Need more info..

What's your mileage, did this happen after the car sat for 2 years or prior to it being parked?

    Ever change the thermostat?

When was the last time the cooling system was flushed?

    Any mods?

    Oh and welcome to LS1.com..

    I'll add in addition to Smittro's -

what's the coolant fluid look like?

The coolant low light - prone to go out, need a new one. Most likely because it has been sitting for so long it is all gunk up.

Have you checked your fan relays as well? Also sounds like a coolant flush is in order. If a car sits for a long period of time, I recommend a flush and fill.
