orbital
well the stock piece of crap ac delco battery died the other day. I guess it was from sitting to long. So i wanted to get a optima but the local parts store says they have an orbital battery they told me it's basically the same as an optima anyone here running or heard of this battery thanks.

No but if you want an optima get an optima. I'm guessing the local parts store has a vested interest in the orbital. You can order one online and even after shipping get it for less than you would locally.JMO.

You can't go wrong with an OPTIMA. I have them in all of my cars and my truck. They are the best.

Sears is working pretty well for me, I always heard optima is more for car audio because of how long they can last with frequent draining/charging. But I guess that would make for a better battery in general also...

You can't go wrong with that choice.

Orbital batteries are made by Exide. You know, that huge company that makes batteries for just about everything. Orbitals are great batteries. They are basically very similar to Optima batteries. In fact they are basically the same thing with a couple exceptions. Orbital batteries have slightly higher reserve capacities and cranking amps than the equivalant Optima batteries. Also the Orbital batteries are backed by Exide and all of thier dealers, which include Kragen, and Checker auto which means if you ever have a problem with them they are easier to find a place to get them warrentied.
Both batteries are AGM batteries and have a great advantage that they can withstand huge amounts of abuse and can be mounted vertually anyway, upside down and sideways. They both have no water or electrolite to leak so they won't blow up under the hood. Optima batteries use what they call spiral cell technology, Orbitals also use similar technology except since Optima batteries have a pat. on that name they can't call it that.
Either way you have a great battery that can sit unused for quite a while, still maintaining a charge. Not to mention you might notice your car start up faster with these batteries due to the fact they can discharge much quicker than lead acid batteries.
I would have to go against the crowd here and tell you to go with the Orbital battery due to the fact you can take them to more places nationwide for warranty service if need be. Kinda hard to do that with a mail order battery.

Thanks for the info on the Orbital batt. A company called Johnson Controls makes over half of the batt. out there.
And luckly on the Optima tip Autozone picked them up a couple of years ago so if you spend the extra $20-30 instead of mail ordering it you also get the benefit of nation wide stores for warr. claims.
