Teal- 95 Camaro
Only Made 399rwhp
Went to the dyno on Friday and I was lil' disappointed cause my car only made 399. I got LS6 Heads ported by MTI with the G1 Cam with all the upgraded valvetrain stuff. Hooker 1 7/8 LT headers with Hooker y-pipe. Slp Air Lid, LS6 Intake. I don't have a catback yet, all I got is a Hooker muffler with the factory pipe. My friends think 399 is great but, I was expecting a lil' more. Does anybody have any suggestions. Thanx

Maybe you should open the up the heads more. I would go with 1.8 roller rockers if you don't all ready have them. what were the head's flow tested at?

I have set of SLP headers, I did not use them again cause they bang up against everything. Should I use those again.

the smaller headers would give you a little more power down low as Mr Luos said. and with a full catback you would be over the 400 mark. do you have a 10 bolt or 12 bolt rear end.

Cut out. Since you know what it made I'm assuming your already tuned. Those numbers sound alright. Friend had similar set up and made 402 RWHP with just heads and that cam on a cut out. But he still had stock lid and filter so his problem is probably like yours one side flows other side kinks, add a cut out and you'll go over 400 for sure. Can ya run 1.8's with that cam? Stock gears or changed?

I'd say that exhaust is screwing you up more than you'd think. 1 7/8 is too big for stock cubes. Not to mention the stock catback will choke you down too. I'd suggest getting some different headers (1 3/4) and a decent catback (or at least a cutout). Who did the tune? If it was a mail order, you may have 15~20hp left in it after straightening out the exhaust and tune.

sounds low to me. what are the specs of your G1 cam? also, what was your rwtq number?
i definately agree with the others that your stock cat-back is hurting your #'s...

Thank You all for your responses. I have 6 speed, yes the car is a 95 Chevy Camaro, but with an LS1. Everything is from an LS1 car. My torque was at 376. I am gonna get the Borla catback today and I am gonna port the throttle body.

The catback and TB porting should get you over the 400 mark! I've been planning a similar setup on my car, so I'm glad to see it should get me around 400 rwhp!

I know I said it once already, but you should have bought smaller 1 3/4 headers.

Did you do the install of the parts your self or got some one to do it for you? I asked because I would like to know how hard was it to do.I work on cars all the time but they are alot earlier ones and they don't have all the plugs and wires to worry about.Just thinking of tearing into my 99 TA makes me think twice about doing it myself.
