Is it okay to clean/hose off the engine bay?

Just that. This car (97 LT1) needs a de-greasing in a bad way, but my question is this, would it be okay to spray some greased lightning or some other type of degreaser in the engine bay, let it soak, and lightly hose it off, or should i avoid doing this due to the electrical systems etc? Just curious, I dont want to screw up anything (opti etc.).

I think you would be ok. Just keep water away from the opti, pcm, and other electrical stuff. Don't blast it in there, just let it rinse everything off.

    Yeah what they said....

The darn opti is the main concern. If it does not start or runs ruff when you are done, don't panic just let it get hot or dry out and it will be fine.

Its a 50-50 shot when I take the 96 thru a car wash wether it will run like crap for the next 20 minutes or not thanks to the lovely opti spark.

Well, i went ahead and did it today, but I wont know any more for at least a week or so, i've got the car stripped so I can paint it soon and i've got the battery out/etc so I won't be starting it for a while. I used Greased Lightning/Orange Blast and hosed it off after i let it soak briefly. Hopefully nothin' got screwed up!

That should be fine. Be careful spraying those chemicals on the aluminum, as it can make it corode.
