which end of the PCV line do i put the breather?
the far side that goes all the way back along the side on the intake manifold?
so basically i wont have a PCV valve in my system...would that hurt anything?

The pcv connects to the two connectors - one on each valve cover, to a t fitting, then to the PCV, then to the intake connector. Worst case you will need hoses and a t fitting to make the repair for now.

The part you are looking for is 12562580 but I don't see it available from GM.

I recommend you make the repair as necessary to fix your leak and get a catch can. The one from AMW is excellent, comes with hoses and everything you need and takes less than an hour to install.

Oil in the intake is a combination of PCV and reversion from the cylinders, the catch can will take care of 90% on a healthy motor.

The throttle motor holds your idle via the cable, sound like you do not have the cables on there correctly, check and let us know

How were you cleaning it? When you opened the throttle to look inside whether on the car or off, did the throttle cable come off of the cam so there is too much slack in the cable?

Doubtful a sensor went bad. Did you put the pcv in the right way, sounds like it's in backwards if it won't idle and smokes.
