    OIL Leak!!!

Alright guys, I've been at this for two days now and I can't locate the oil leak at the rear of the engine. I've taken off the manifold and replaced the oil pressure sensor back there. After install, STILL LEAKING!! So....I pulled the manifold back off again...No oil found in that area of the sensor or even the valve cover. Looking underneath I see the oil coming from above the trans and I can follow it to the backside of the block. Is there something I'm missing?? the leak is a steady drip, not a stream, but close enough. My thoughts are maybe the OPS isn't seated properly, IDK. Gonna go at it again today.......seems never ending

Have you checked the oil pressure switch while the car is running? Might be defective and leaking where the plastic meets the metal. I am going through that right now, and I replaced the damn thing over a year ago. I'm just glad it's not my rear main seal.

well, i've checked all i could check today. i've rerouted the pcv and reinforced the hoses. felt behind the manifold and it was dry. drove the car around for 2 miles and not 1 drop. parked in the drive way and a few high throttle revs and the leak starts again.....

OK. So you replaced everything you could and it's still leaking, eh? Do you know if the OPS had sealant on the threads? If it didn't, that could be where the leak is coming from.

now that you mention it, i didn't use any thread tape or sealant on the OPS. looking at the old one, it had something on the threads.....dang it, this manifold is a PITA!! lol. i just don't want to drop the trans and find that's the problem. guess i'll pull the FAST off again.....

EXACTLY. If the leak is coming from the top, then it's not the rear main seal. I thought the same thing with my car and man, was I glad it was the switch and not the rear main seal. A $30-$50 part is WAY better than $5-$1000 IMO.

UPDATE...problem found and i sure do feel retarded
I didn't use any thread sealer or tape. Put a healthy amount of thread tape on the OPS and problem solved.
