Curiosity has got me on this. Subd.

Is it the bolt hitting the header or your wrench?

wow I have to say that this is a first for me to see. Looks like your going to have to loosen that side of the headers.

I would start looking for new LTs

Do you guys think I could just shorten the bolt? I also read some where there is a shorter version of the drain plug bolt for our cars available. I would prefer not to buy new lts since that is really the only fitment issue.

I honestly don't know what you can do here, maybe cut the bolt and try to find a shorter one.

Actually, get a friend and wrap a pry bar in a rag, lightly pry the header and see if you can back it out the rest of the way.

Just try not the damage the head where the header bolts to, if that's possible. I'm sure it is.

Only place that I have found a replacement is with Hawks's 3rd Gen.

It is a magnetic plug for $17, not sure how long the bolt is.

You should be able to go to a hardware store with the bolt and match it in size and thread, then just get it in a shorter length. It doesn't help at the moment because it would mean dropping that header in order to get it out.

BTW I would email a pic of this to the guy you got those LTs from and say Thx!!

How short do you guys think I could safely think I could go without leaking oil everywhere? I will probably try getting another bolt, anyone know the bolt's dimensions off the top of their head?

get a marker out and mark how far out the bolt will go before it drips...

Oh didn't think about that. Well thanks for the help guys hopefully by this weekend I'll get the bolt out and cut it down to the right size. I'll post pictures when I do.

wow thats insane fitment. the problem is to get this bolt out. but you said that you got this bolt out before with this same headers before... so i don't get it? Something has changed here... I will say to heat up the area where it hits with a torch and hammer it until you get some clearance to remove the bolt out. If you get it out I will say get a shorter version like the others advise. Can you take a picture from the front of the car underneath to compare if tboth headers are even?

The thing with cutting the bolt is that if the threads are not perfect you run the risk of damaging the oil pan threads. That will be a lot of extra work. if you can't bang the header for clearance you will need to remove it to get the bolt out.

I have the same brand of headers on my 02.It is a tight fit between the header and the drain plug on mine, but it clears enough to remove it.

If I were you....I would notch that part of the header tube with just enough so the drain plug clears. Use a small hammer and flat punch to get your desired clearance.

I really don't know what changed I'll get a front view picture up soon too. I may try and loosen the bolts for the headers and see if that will give me the added clearance to take out the bolt. I am going to try and find a shorter bolt then, since I would prefer to not have to bang my header up.
