The Fram Extended Guard is the good one now, or a Wix is also good quality. The Napa Gold brand filters were also the same thing last time I checked.

I always bought the ACdelco filters in bulk (PF61) and still have a supply of the old style. Unfortunately the last batch I purchased here in AZ was of the E-core design. I noticed something different about them as soon as I pulled one from the box.
About the same time Fram came out with the extended guard, much better quality. I switched to that, albiet a little more money than the ACdelco, it's still cheaper than the K&N or the Mobil filters. I also use Wix and like the quality there as well. Honestly I don't think I keep any of them on the cars long enough to matter much, so I'm certainly not going to spend too much money on a filter.

yeah, thats just it. Is the e-core filter a cheaply designed filter-yes. Does it do it job just fine anyways-yes, probably more 99% of the time they won't fail or have a problem. Do I still want a better quality filter just in case-YES!

Yeah I know what you mean, I like something better than that e-core myself. Any of the others I mentioned are better. But I'm also not going to spring for a top of the line pricey filter either when the others are doing the job.
