    Oh shit moment

bought my goat this year with 48k on it for a steal. the only issue is that the dealership that i purchased it from did not have the key to my rims purchased by its previous owner. i have looked everywhere and no one has a fitting key for them. my baby is in storage right now while im deployed, and my wife maintains its fluids and runs it every here and again. my issue is how im going to rotate/ replace tires whenever the time comes... and suggestions???

What brand lugs? i have had customers have to call gorilla and get a replacement key. But they were also the original buyers of the lugs. It's worth a shot for you. Also some parts stores carry a universal key to certain brands. I know it kind of take to point from having locking lugs away but they do.

$5.00 per lock beats the snot out of drilling each one and replacing the stud.

I don't know if this picture is gonna show up, but here is the tool I have. It's from snap on, you hammer it on the lock and rip it off with an air gun.

Ive lost the key to mine before, they are extremely easy to take off, pick up a socket that barely doesn't fit and hammer it on, then use a breaker bar to remove them

I agree with Jeff and Alex. I have hammered sockets over locks and they have come off quite easy with a breaker or my impact gun.

The Dealer I bought my Camaro from didn't have the key for the rims.. I called and called about it and they never called back. Finally I just drove over there and said, "The car didn't come with the key for the lugs, what are you going to do about it" Luckily for me they went ahead and just replaced the locks with regular lug nuts, which was fine by me (I don't think anyone wants to steal 16'' Z28 rims lol) But then again, it was only about a month after I bought it too.... If they hadn't of fixed it, I would have tried jamming a socket on there and getting it off that way.

i will def try that when i get home. that has been wearing heavily on my mind for some time now. i also went to every tire shop in my area and no one had the key to solve my issue. i hope this doesnt prove to be problematic.

Go to sears, buy a 12pt chrome socket (size depends on which brand lock you have) that you can pound on the lock and take it off with a breaker bar or impact gun. Thats what I do. The locking lug nut will be stuck in the socket, so you'll have to pound it out with a punch or screw driver. I've also spun them off with an air hammer with a chisel bit.
Also, any shop can remove locking lug nuts, so if you don't want to that is an option.

We've did that once, a few spot welds and in business.

Saw one guy use a pipe wrench once, but that was on steel rims and doesn't help here.

Take it to a Discount Tire man. I work at a Discount tire and when that happens he just brake them off doesnt hurt that car, I dont think its a chagre but you will one to buy a new lug set so that will cost you.
