    newbie question...6.0 vortec...

I had a couple questions I was hoping someone could help me with. I have a 1965 Olds 88 2dr hardtop that I was looking to swap a modern, more reliable, better HP engine into..I know someone willing to sell me a vortec 6.0 motor out of his wrecked 2002 GMC sierra 2500HD with 100,000k on it for $1000 thats complete from intake to oil pan, harness, alternator, ac comp, etc...
My questions are number one, is this a good deal?

number two, Is this the LQ4 or LQ9 motor?

    any help would be appreciated

    thanks
    Scott

thats not a bad deal. and that would be an lq4 with "dished" pistons. i'm in the process of putting together an lq9 which is from an escalade

like everyone else had said LQ4... throw in some flat tops and you pretty much have an LQ9... with all that stuff with the motor $1000 is a fairly good price and being cast iron it has plenty of potential for modding for F/I...

Yes it's a good deal, and yeah do the swap!

That'd be a hella good thing to do for that Olds, and show off to others.

thanks guys...so I bought the motor with a 4l80e trans for $1500!! great deal...My mechanic is going to do the all the work since I'm just a body guy not an engine guy...He seems confident in fitting this motor and trans in the car...I think i'm going to leave the motor stock for now except for exhaust, headers, and tune the ECU. oh and prob going to need a lower profile oil pan because the car is going to sit low...
