99-06 5.3 crank should be the same reluctor wheel/same crank as the LS1.

    So I could just put a 5.3 in my 98 Z28?
Obviously after changing the Accessories, Oil Pan and intake????

Yep. Both are 3.622, and I'm almost postive 99-06 truck 5.3's were 24x reluctor wheel. I suppose it wouldnt hurt to call around to some repected engine builders/shops and ask, but I pretty sure the reluctors are the same.

With the downsize in CI, the power output will definitely be lower.

    Fella's,
I race my 98 Z28 in NASA American Iron. We are regulated to 9.5:1 HP to weight Ratio @ the wheels. 9.0:1 TQ to weight.
My Camaro is 3019 with me (175ish) and 10gal of fuel.
We restricted my LS1 at the tuner down to 334HP so I am carrying 140# of ballast. I was thinking of going to the Aluminum 5.3 so I could get rid of the ballast.
    Thanks for all your Help.

    Cool car!!
I would think the aluminum 5.3 and the aluminum LS1 weigh about the same.
