I'm running a 220/224 .570/.580 112lsa.....if I had to do it again I'd go for a 228/228 113-114lsa, they are still getting good drivability for a daily driver.
I'd look for a 3,600 stall, Yank has a very good one, but you'll pay for it.....take your time and look for a good used one here in the F/S section, on ls1tech, and ebay....i picked up mine on ebay like new for $140 shipped, so you can find deals if you search.
as for a tranny cooler, you can get one for under $50 at the auto parts store (towing/RV cooler)

Make sure you start with a good tune up if you just made the purchase, From plugs and wires to all filters and fluids...
J2001 SS, Its not the car its the Driver that matters....

for example , 228/228 .570/.580 112lsa ( how long the intake valve is opened/ how long the exhaust is open how high the intake valve opens/ how high the exhaust valve opens and the last part is the number of degrees between the intake and exhaust lobe centerlines.
there isn't really a better stall size acrossed the board, the larger a cam is the higher the rpm the motor needs to turn to start getting power out of the cam.
a stall is just basicly a slipper clutch.....
for instance, a 3,000rpm stall will let the engine rev to around 3,000rpm before it grabs if you are sitting at idle and mash the throttle.....a 3,600 stall will let it rev to 3,600
