Hey all,

Hoping someone is experienced with camaros other than ls1! My dad is looking to buy a 1988 iroc convertible and it has an unbelieveable odometer reading...48000 kilometers. I am wondering if on this generation the odometer rolls over from 100000 back to 0? Anyone know are there only 5 digits in this generation of camaro?

It looks like they do


I googled imaged iroc odometers. You might find some more info to get you a definite idea. Easy enough to ask the seller to take a picture of the odometer

yea they do, they are just simple gear and cam driven odo and will reset.

This! Had many of stealership/private seller try to pawn high mile f-bodies off as "like new" "low mile" BS.. Too bad I've have 4 of them and know better.. Also in general, understand how an engine should run/sound if it indeed has low mileage.. There's almost nothing tuneable on those cars so if they are'nt running right it mostly points to mechanical issues/wear.. Sure they have sensors but they are few in compairison to today.. @ 40,xxx miles, no engine sensor should'nt have ever been replaced yet without good reason..

Great thanks for the feedback! I guess the proof as to the legitimacy of the mileage will be in how the car looks and sounds when we look up colse and personal instead of at internet pics.

Best way is to take a spin in it.. If it has 40,xxx on it, it will feel like new, if it's 140,xxx on factory parts it will feel like every bit of that too.. Everything will be worn out
