Maple Red Metallic- 2000 Pontiac Trans Am
Need part - 2k TA - gauge pod bezel + screen
I have a 2000 Trans Am. I pulled out my gauge pod to adjust my white-face overlays and to clean the plastic lense covering the gauge cluster. Upon closer inspection, I have some spots that won't come out (don't know what it is, best guess is Armour All; I assumed it was condensation inside the gauge pod). Also noticed a lot of scratches from 7 years of windex and paper towels (note to self: use soft cloth on clear plastic from now on).
When you pull out the gauge pod, the electronics half unsnaps from the clear lense and bezel assembly. I just want the clear lense/bezel part. The dealer tells me it's all one part and obviously I don't need the gauges which are expensive.
Can anyone tell me a part number so I can go to GMPartsDirect.com, or know somewhere else I can find this? Thanks. I'd like to replace it. If I can't then I guess I'll try some plastic polish but I'd rather just get a new part.

GMpartsdirect.com says it was part number 16230640 but is discontinued (explaining why the gauges and lense are one part now).
But good news. I took the risk of applying a fine micropolish I bought for removing scratches from my iPod and I am amazed with how well it worked out (it could have either worked or ruined the lense). Not only did it remove the stains/splotches, it really took 90% of the harshness of the scratches out. It looks almost good as new.

GMPartsDirect says the part number is 16230640 "instrument panel cluster lense" and it's discontinued (explaining why now it's one piece with the gauges themselves).
Luckily, I have good news: I tried some micropolish that I had bough to remove scratches from my iPod, and figured it would either work or ruin the lense making me buy the whole thing new. It worked like a charm, took out the stains and reduced the scratches by 90%. It looks almost new now.

Good find....that's the way they used to make them. Then you could put one on the Camaro & it looks sweet with the white face overlay.
