Red- 2000 WS6 Trans Am
Need new rear hatch struts
Hello everyone. I have a 2000 WS6 Trans Am and the rear hatch struts are worn out. You have to hold the hatch open with your hand as it won't stay open on its own anymore. I'm looking to get new struts for it but am unsure how to proceed. I see quite a few used OEM struts on e-bay, but I am hesitant to purchase because who knows how much life they have left in them. I also see new manufacture struts that are supposed to be "stronger than factory". Here is an example of what I am looking at: 1993 2002 Camaro Firebird Trans Am Trunk Lid Rear Hatch Lift Supports 93 02 | eBay I don't need anything fancy, just some good solid struts to hold the hatch open. Any advice or opinions on how I should proceed would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Silver- 1999 Trans-Am, 2012 Sonic
I needed new hood struts grabbed some from ebay and turned out only needed one. Only one of the two was bad not enough to hold it up. So far so good and now I have a spare. Pick them up from a trusted seller you should be fine

Not sure the exact part number, but at Autozone new hatch struts range from $24 to $38. I would just hit a parts store and be done with it.

Please go to a auto parts store and get the correct part needed.
But whatever you do, please don't use a broom stick.2002 Firebird Formula - 5.7 Liter - "Last of the Breed"

I keep an old adjustable shower curtain rod with rubber end caps in my shop just in case someone brings me a vehicle with non-functioning struts to work on.
