My car will be parked for 3 weeks at a time occasionally and it fires up fine with the redtop. It's been parked for the last 2 weeks and I'm sure it won't have a problem starting. If you don't have any odd parasitic drain the red top should be fine for you unless your running a big stereo. If you don't drive it for months at a time I'd say use a switch like above or maybe then you would want a deep cycle.

I wouldn't mind trying an Optima battery if they didn't come in those blasted red or yellow colors,,,,just an ugly looking battery to me.

Maybe if they ever come out with a more subdue color I'll give them a try.

A little bit of paint or a battery cover could fix that issue. Better yet relocate it to the back and you won't even see it.

LOL,,, moving it to the back isn't an option for me,,,that would require a cutoff switch at the track, and I'm not poking holes in the car,,Not to mention a secure batter box,,plus I need all the trunk space the car offers

I'm not a big fan of battery covers either,,,looks tacky. If optima would come out with a good old fashion black battery I would probably give them a look. But a big yellow or red battery on a car that doesn't have that color anywhere else on the car kinda clashes. Until then I'll stick with the AC Delco's, they have served me well enough for the last 30 years, and at the moment I prefer the OE look.
Shucks the one in my chevelle is going on 12 years old now,,,lol,,,,I keep waiting for it to die, the green eye has been gone for about 5 years now It just keeps on cranking.
