    need info on do it yourself port and polish

    its for my dirtbike, not my z, but i have to put new valves, seals, guides, and springs in so i am going to also port and polish my head. summit has the DIY kit and i am really considering this, my q is, has anyone ever used this or had experience on anything? thanks

    I have ported heads for years and can honestly tell you that it is much easier to ruin one than just guess and get it right, especially on an aluminum head. There are many "how to" books or technical bulletins out there for free or cheap that have enough basic information to help prevent that from happening. But nothing beats watching an experienced porter while he explains the "why" of every move. That's how I learned many years ago. Good luck.

    hey man you could try Eastwood, they do have videos, books, and all the tools you need to port and polish anything

    i found a guy that will do it for me or $100. i am going with him, he also will install my valves and cut the seats for an extra $75. thanks for the input guys
