    Need help lt1 wont start

I have a 94 camaro z28 that came factory with an LT1 and tranny. I bought the car with no motor no tranny. I have a motor and tranny out of a 95 z28. the motor is put in and everything i believe is to be hooked up. I went to start it and heard a clicking noise. Come to find out I had three wires hooked up to the starter instead of two. I heard one of the wires, I believe the black one, was the ground to oil pan. Still just clicking only a little louder. I am going to take the starter to get checked in a bit. But is there anything else I should check just in case???? Thanks in advance

are the dash lights doing weird things? if so, your computer may not be recieving proper ground....i had that problem with my engine swap

EDIT: actually, my engine did turn over, just wasnt getting spark or fuel.

the dash lights are on and even the door bell ringers ding. i was guessing the reason the dash lights havent went off is because the motor hasnt started yet but idk. like i said its my first and its kicking me in the butt lol

Before you take the starter out to be checked, leave it in the car and tap it with a hammer lightly while someone is in the car turning the key. If the car starts, then the starter is the culprit. Just trying to save you a trip.

    Creative idea! Lol

Since no one has yet pointed out, check the obvious??
Battery, battery connections, alternator, fuses, grounds.

doubt the fuses but somewhere to have a different start!

pump the gas before starting. btw, any check engine light? If so what are the codes.

This is where I would start. All grounds are important so check those first, They check voltage to the starter with the key on and in crank mode. Good luck.

The battery should be grounded to a post that is on the same fender as the battery. Should see a threaded post. The motor should be grounded in at least 2 places and the PCM also has it's own ground.
