Second time in how long? Cutting and splicing sensors is never really a good idea. What kind of coolant mix are you using and when was the last time it was flushed?

You need to stay with the stock 3 wire sensor.
You code must be P0118, right? How much time/miles past between sensor failures?

Sure it's not a wiring/connector/PCM issue? www.gearchatter.com/viewtopic8760.php Fans shouldn't be running 100% of the time....

I agree, it sounds like its most likely a wiring or connector issue at this point.

blacker than wesleysnipes- 98' trans am
the coolant temp is a integral part of the fueling etc etc..if it is misreading or messed up..it will cause a lot of issues...id put a reader on those wires and make sure your voltage is in check

3 sensors and still not fixed...I'd check the wiring and connections for problems.

The brown wire is the sensor ground back to the PCM and with the sensor disconnected, it won't have voltage on it. But the brown wire is important. The PCM measures the voltage on the brown wire to determine the coolant temp. The yellow wire should have approximately 5 volts on it.
