need help with block heater!
hey everyone, its gettin cold enough up here to kill off sperm levels and my car is hating me so bad. when it gets real cold, she lopes like a have a 107 lsa cam in it. but i dont so i need to get a block heater for my z and the g/f's vibe. any suggestions? they have one that mounts inline with my heaterhose but i dont wanna hack it all up. any thoughts on my lil delimma? besides getting a beater

I have zero experience with this stuff as I live where the temp doesn't quite hit ice box status. Don't they make an oil warmer/circulator? Might be cheaper and easier to put on but like I said I have no experience with this sorta thing. Post back up after you get it all taken care of and let me know what you did and how it worked out...I'm just curious.

okay bud i can do that. it got to -4 here friday nite. we were throwin water on the poles outside and it would freeze in under 3 sec. no joke

-4, yea thats getting cold, try -20 where I am. I answerd that post on block heaters in the rocky mountain section, hope it helps ya out.

they also make one that replaces a freeze plug on the block. the dealer near you probably evens stocks it.

not sure how many f bodys have them but could of sworn that they came on some of the cars expessially canada, even thoe canada is 300 feet from me from detroit

yep probably block hearters are pretty much standard on Gm vehicles sold in Canada

The block heater is available for the LS1 from GM For $26.00 part # 12571540 and for the six cyl it's part # 12571595 lists for $29.00

thanks, i looked into those but you gotta replace a freeze plug with it. i only gonna be up here till june so i dont wanna go that route, thanks again
