Running out of gas is not being nice to your fuel pump. Can you hear it prime when you turn the key on? First thing I'd do is replace the fuel filter.

Are you certain you ran out of gas? If you still don't have any fuel pressure for example-it could be that your fuel pump quit.

I put about 5 gallons and the gas gauge shows that it does have gas now so the only thing i can think of now is that i burned up the fuel pump so its time for a new one thanks guys

make sure you can hear the pump run first.then look on your fuel rail, there is a cap that looks like were you put air in a tire,(schrader valve),take the cap off, turn the switch on,push in on the valve,as if you were letting air out of a tire, when gas comes through-stop,now your ready to crank it up.sometimes you have to bleed the air out of the system to get the fuel through.

Not fun to have to replace a fuel pump...I'd exhaust all other possibilities first. Fuel pressure test with a gauge, fuses, relays, clogged filter....
