Medium Blue Metallic- 1999 Pontiac Trans Am
Need GM battery bottom part number
As with many, the plastic tray has broken off my stock battery holder. Not the clip that screws down but the backside. Can anyone get me a part number for this piece?
Thanks,
Doug

The Battery tray is part of the Coolant Resevoir.

Just visit the dealer, friend of mine broke his and it was fairly cheap - took them a couple days to get the part in though since it wasn't in stock. And yes, the battery tray is the top of the coolant resevoir.

anyone know if that piece fits the optima? don't think my tray was actually broken...but my battery would always slip out of it...then I think i may have broken it trying to make it hold on...don't remember 2.5 years ago...

Just looked and the top of the optima is below the top screw mount, so it should fit under it just fine. And the optima has a square bottom piece which is what should be contacting mostly, so it should work nicely with the optima. Won't stop much lateral shift though, which is what I need to work on next; not too important though since it can't damage much by shifting towards the radiator.

I just went with the o/e reservoir, man if you see what comes out the old reservoir, it would make you hurl! I have an optima too...fwiw.

Yea, i know this is a old thread, but how hard is it to install the new tray, since it has to do with the reservoir? Does that mean i would have to refill something? The side that is closet to the front of the car broke on my tray, at the track, so it might be easier for me to get the year one peace.

Got mine from modern day muscle. I also had the ziptie mod going for alittle while.
Had to, its not fun knocking your coolant level sensor out and dropping your collant everywhere doing 60-80 MPH.
Yea, that sucked. Looking into that hold down also.

I made my own bracket to hold the battery down out of some 3/4" wide stock. I'll snap a pic of it later......really simple and works.
